HANDWOVEN SAMBALPURI IKKAT COTTON SAREE WITH TEMPLE BORDER

A Sambalpuri sari is a traditional handwoven bandha (ikkat) sari (locally called “sambalpuri bandha” sadhi or saree) wherein the warp and the weft are tie-dyed before weaving. Woven in Nuapatna  region of Odisha, ‘kumbha’ means temples, due to the towering temples looking like peaks of Kargil mountains hence the name was put by weavers as ‘ Kargil Kumbha’.

Pallu of this Drape has the Konark wheel motif- the signature Odisha architectural marvel, surrounded by peacocks, butterflies, flowers motifs .The main attraction of these sarees are the large Ikkat temple designs woven along the borders.

In this saree the tie & die technique is used to create motifs in it, giving an elegant look to the saree. This handwoven saree is in the combination of gray, maroon & black .These hand-woven Ikkat sarees are simple yet Classy and our team has passionately curated some of the best Ikkat sarees sourced directly from the weavers of Odisha.
